Our History

Larnaca Academy of Music shyly started its first steps 34 years ago, in 1982 by Soteroula Hadjiyiannis.

With a piano, and her love and worship for music as an ally, with dreams full of hope and ambitions, she transformed one of the rooms of her small apartment into a classroom where she taught for the next seven years.

Although she wanted to create her own family, she did not put aside her passion to impart her love for MUSIC and to hug each new student as  her own child. She lived for the notes and breathed for the melodies.

When the number of students began to grow, as well as the need to expand the number of classes, she moved to a new specially designed space with soundproofing, convenience and an area for small concerts. This was also the beginning of a beautiful collaboration with renowned teachers of various musical instruments.

Over time, the Conservatory, demonstrating its professionalism not only in terms of providing quality knowledge but also regarding the expansion of its premises, moved to its current building in 1999. These premises are all purpose-built, modern, comfortable and pleasant, as to make each student and guest feel at home from the very first time , and to allow them to look forward to the time they come back toclass.

The Conservatory, from the day of its creation, follows the tests’ and evaluations’ system of the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) so that students are able to participate in the undoubtedly demanding and INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNISED exams of the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), in order to achieve their objectives and assess their progress.

Ever since, the Conservatory continues to serve the music education and work with the same dedication and dreams as it began.
