Our Philosophy

The school LARNACA ACADEMY OF MUSIC serves the musical world with love, responsibility and consistency , providing high quality music education. Our school respects and promotes all genres of music, with an emphasis in Classical music which is undoubtedly the basis of Music.

In our school, we are more determined than ever to provide the best music education, especially during these difficult times; we do not wish this to be a privilege for the few. Our main goal is to nourish the love for the art of sound to each and every student that comes to us, to cultivate talents, create elegant composers and adults with broad horizons.

Our goal is to teach music, which is one of the most valuable gifts a parent can offer their child. Through learning to play an instrument, children express their feelings, develop areas of their brain that can only be stimulated by music and are given the opportunity to socialise with other children of similar interests. Specifically, children can express themselves more easily through music with their mind and thoughts greatly influenced. As Einstein once said, if he did not become a scientist he would have definitely become a musician. This created the admiration of musicians around the world at the time. Einstein specifically said: ‘I could not imagine my life without music. I live my dreams through music. I observe my life through music..I know that the greatest satisfaction in my life was given to me by my violin’.  Einstein himself believed that learning and playing his violin gave him his intellectual abilities.

Undoubtedly, music is a creative and pleasant hobby for adults as well those who wish to learn a musical instrument or sing. The art of music can help a person in their personal life. Just wonder how life would be without music and more generally without sounds. Music is also a way of communication between people. It is possible for two strangers to communicate through the passion of music, despite their differences, social class or language. Music does not care about colour, ethnicity or religion. As Mikis Theodorakis (famous Greek composer) once said: “whoever loves music, believes in one religion, the religion of Music”.

Music does not have a start date, it was always there from the creation of the world. It was discovered by humans through different sounds and rhythms around them. The contact with music starts from when we are embryos in the womb, with the sounds of the heart and the breathing rhythm of our mothers. The education of music is a must because more than anything in the world, the rhythm and harmony that music provides, affects our inner self that every single one of us needs to know how to control and reach.

If we allow music in our lives, we will not become richer materialistically, but we will become richer within ourselves. It does not matter if that music is Beethoven, a singing bird that welcomes the day in the morning, or the sound of waves at night. Music is everywhere. We just need to ‘listen’ to it!
